Can Princess Peach ever have a moment without something going wrong? In Princess Peach: Showtime! Peach and the Toads want to go see some plays when Madame Grape and her minions (or the cast of The Masked Singer) show up to take over. Princess Peach is left trying to save the shows and the Sparklas with the help of Stella the guardian of the theater.
I really don’t want to put the game down, the graphics are clean and beautiful. Showtime! is a 1 player game that isn’t exactly platform style but, it’s also not like Super Mario 3D world. You can move up and down but, only until a point, I mean, you are on a stage. Peach is taking the roles as the main Sparklas in the different performances and you can even see her in different outfits other than her iconic pink dress. For example you have Swordfighter Peach and Mermaid Peach. Did I mention that each costume has a different ability? You can also unlock and purchase other dresses for her with the coins collected throughout the game.
Real talk though, this game is slightly harder than one would think. Rather than all the levels being a fight, some are more mini game inspired. In addition, other Mario games have 3 Stars to collect, where as in Showtime! you’re now collecting 10 Sparkle gems and 1 bow. Some are hidden where you need to strike a pose and some you have to get by getting a perfect score in a mini game. Like I said, harder than you’d think.
As this is a theater as opposed to worlds, there are 5 floors and a basement. Each floor has 4 plays and a boss, and the basement is where you save the lead Sparklas. It may not seem like a lot just reading about it but, like I said it’s a lot of fun and the gems are hard to find. I highly recommend this game, it’s a lot of fun and beautifully designed. Plus we haven’t seen a Princess Peach game since Super Princess Peach in 2005.
